A Summer Moment.

I just wanted to take the time to record my yesterday.  It was wonderful.  I’ve been struggling with some things lately and I can finally say that I’m in a good place once again.

Cory and I both stayed the night at a friends the night of her graduation party.

We woke up and he took me home to shower and change, next we went to his house so that he could do the same.

Then he took me into town and treated me to brunch at Bob Evans.  He had a breakfast platter with eggs over easy, cubed potatoes, sausage and french toast.  I had half of a turkey, bacon melt sandwich and a cup of loaded baked potato soup.  We shared a bottomless carmel mocha (delicious) and he commented how whenever you go somewhere they take forever to bring you any fancy coffee refills so that you can’t drink “too much”.

We then spent the afternoon at the flee market, digging through boxes and reminiscing.  He bought me the cutest beanie babe seal named Iceburg and I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face.

After the market he took me to see Despicable Me 2.  It was amazing, maybe even better than the first.  I took Iceburg with me inside.

On the way home he held my hand and simply said “Now this is a ‘summer moment.'”  I couldn’t have agreed anymore.

Once we were at my house he helped me set up for the shoot I’d been dreaming of for awhile (see image below).

He left and my lovely girls came to be photographed.

After the session we headed to Shantels to swim.  Instead of swimming we ate hamburgers and Fritos and played Apples to Apples.

It truly was the perfect day.

More Than Ready…

Sunday.

Church.  The one that I grew up in, the one that I feel at home at, the one I love.

Lunch.  Friends that I grew up with,  friends that are always welcome, friends that I truly miss.

Ice Skating.  An activity I was deathly afraid of, an activity I grew to enjoy, an activity I just may do again.

Dinner.  Pizza with my favorite people, pizza with those who make me laugh, pizza with someone holding my hand.

Monday.

My wish for you is that you bring me the same enjoyment, the relief and satisfaction as Sunday – my favorite day, my day of rest.

Here’s to a wonderful week, a week of humility and accomplishment.

Here’s to a renewed optimism and can-do attitude.

Here’s to being young and conquering the world – one Monday at a time.

So bring it Monday, I am more than ready for whatever it is you may have in store.

I am…

I’m not sure what has changed in me, but I am in a much better mood today.  I am truly happy and back to feeling like my old self again.  Praise to God for this!

*****

So here’s a little something fun for you all, a different way for us to get to know each other.  This is my set of I ams.

I am weird because…

I buy most of my clothes at GoodWill.

I don’t like chocolate.

I want at least five kiddos.

I love cucumber sandwiches.

I am scared because…

I don’t know how to get to where I want to be.

Our country is turning its back on God.

The state fair queen pageant in less than a month.

My heart is being pulled in too many directions.

Math (enough said).

I am happy because…

It is almost Christmas break.

I’ve gotten to spend lots of time with my college friends this week.

I’ve finally had time to clean my room (I am a bit of an organizational freak).

It’s unusually warm for winter in Ohio.

I have the world’s most amazing friends.

I am sad because…

Another year has come and gone.

I am failing at pleasing everyone.

So many people are unknowingly living in sin.

This is the first holiday season without my Grandpa.

I just watched the trailer for the Titanic.

I am thankful because…

I have been blessed with amazing friends and family.

I am in highschool and have managed to have a job that I love.

I am in the position to touch many lives.

I have never known what true hunger feels like.

I have been accepted into art school (though I’m not entirely sure I’m going).

I am excited because…

I am one step closer to becoming who I was made to be.

I got an A- on my last pre-calc test.

Christmas is just around the corner.

I found the most awesome gift for my best friend Seal (nickname).

I just bought new canvas’ and paint.

It’s a Wonderful Life…

As Christmas quickly approaches, I’m flooded with images of things we “need”.  Every commercial is aimed at making us feel bad about what we have by showing us things we’re told we can’t live without.  In the hallways I hear everyone talking about what they’ve asked for, what they’re getting.  I am shocked (maybe I shouldn’t be) with how far we as a society have gotten away from the true meaning of Christmas.  It’s not about the stuff, it about a little baby boy who was born thousands of years ago with one purpose; to save us from ourselves.    Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the presents, there are few things that feel better than watching someones face light up after they open a gift, especially one from the heart.  It makes us feel good giving to others, because that’s what we were made to do.  Each of us was built in the image of God, a being who gave us his one and only son, so it’s only natural we be givers too.  I challenge you this holiday season to get your mind off of all the stuff you don’t have, and focus it on what you do.  This year I did things a little bit differently, instead of making a list of what I want, I’ve made a list of what I’m grateful for.  After all I have been truly blessed, it’s a wonderful life and It’s my privilege to share parts of it with you!
